Course Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand basic electrical principles and hazards.
  2. Identify electrical risks in the workplace.
  3. Apply safe electrical work practices and procedures.
  4. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  5. Respond safely to electrical incidents and emergencies.
  6. Comply with electrical safety regulations and standards.

Course Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Electrical Safety

  • Basics of electricity (current, voltage, resistance)
  • Electrical hazards and risks
  • Effects of electricity on the human body
  • Common causes of electrical accidents

Module 2: Electrical Hazards & Risk Assessment

  • Shock, burns, arc flash, and arc blast
  • Faulty wiring and damaged equipment
  • Overloading and improper use of electrical tools
  • Conducting electrical risk assessments

Module 3: Safe Electrical Work Practices 

  • Safe isolation and lockout/tagout (LOTO) principles
  • Working near live electrical parts
  • Use of insulated tools and equipment
  • Electrical permits and authorization procedures

Module 4: Electrical PPE & Safety Devices

  • Electrical PPE (gloves, helmets, footwear)
  • Residual Current Devices (RCDs) / ELCBs
  • Earthing and grounding systems
  • Inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment

Module 5: Electrical Emergencies & Incident Response

  • Responding to electrical shock incidents
  • Fire caused by electrical faults
  • Emergency shutdown procedures
  • Reporting and investigation of electrical incidents

Module 6: Practical Awareness & Case Studies

  • Review of real electrical accident case studies
  •  Safe vs unsafe work practice identification
